Choosing your wedding party and participants isn't easy. Usually, you can count on a couple of people for your groomsmen, but the other few can be a bit more difficult. Here are a few things to consider when for your wedding party.
The first thing you have to figure out is how many groomsmen you will have in your wedding party. Typically, you will have just as many groomsmen as there are bridesmaids. Make sure you speak with your bride before you start asking different guys to be groomsmen.
Traditional or Non-Traditional?
If your bride has brothers, you may need to choose which way you will go. Traditionally, brothers of the bride may end up as part of your wedding party, but this doesn't have to be the case. You may want to speak to her and make sure you are on the same page.
Traditionally, your father will not be a groomsman, either. However, if your father is one of your best friends, you may want to honor him. You don't have to stick to this tradition, as long as you and your bride are on the same page.
The Best Man or Men
Choosing a best man can be difficult, especially if you have a few very good guy friends. However, you should lean towards the person that has been there for you during good and bad and has your best interest at heart. Remember, they have the task of throwing the bachelor party. If you don't want something crazy and wild, choose your best man wisely.
It's okay to have dual best men, as well. If you have to incredible guy friends or two very close brothers, don't be afraid to make them both best men.
An Active Part of Your Life
The best choices for groomsmen are those guys that are an active part of your life. You don't want to choose guys you don't see often or you are not very close to. Make sure you honor the men you are closest to and those that have been a big part of your life.
There are plenty of things to consider when it comes to choosing your groomsmen. Make sure you don't just choose guys based on what other people think you should do and speak to your bride before making any of these decisions.
