Health Benefits to Drinking Beer
Here are a few of the benefits of drinking beer, if done in moderation.
A Boost to Brain Health
Research has shown that a beer a day may just keep Alzheimer's disease at bay. This goes for dementia, as well. The study shows a comparison of those drinking a beer per day compared to those not drinking beer. Those drinking a beer each day were about 20% less likely to end up with Alzheimer’s or another form of dementia.
The high level of silicon found in beers may be the reason for this benefit. Silicon has proven to strengthen bones an increase the mineral density. However if beer is overconsumed it can cause weaker bones and put a person at risk of bone fractures.
Less Risk of Cancer
Drinking beer, specifically dark beer provides plenty of antioxidants and flavonoids. This makes it a good choice for lowering the risk of cancer, specifically prostate cancer. The powerful antioxidant called xanthohumol has anti-cancer properties and it's found in many beers, as well.
Helps with Hair Growth
Drinking beer in moderation provides better hair growth. It will actually help give hair a shine and some hairstylist have claimed it can help with damaged hair. You can even rinse your hair with beer to help provide better growth and health.
Other health benefits to drinking beer include some of the following:
- May help guard against stroke
- Helps to clear up skin
- Provides plenty of fiber
- Lowers the risk of heart disease
- Lowers the risk of diabetes
